Katrina Kaif in trouble for fame

Honeymoon Travels director Reema Kagti, and not Shirish Kunder, is now developing Zoya Factor. The film, produced by Shahrukh Khan’s production company Red Chillies, is an adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name penned by Anuja Chauhan. Says a source, “Differences arose between SRK and Farah Khan’s hubby over the screenplay and script. They had severe creative issues. Both were looking at the script with a different vision.” At this point, SRK decided to change his director.SRK offered the film to Reema as she seemed to understand what he wanted to do with the film. But he forgot to tell Shirish that he was giving the project to someone else to work on.

Shirish found out by accident that the film no longer had his name on it. When Farah heard this, she was hurt and upset at the manner in which her hubby has been ousted. Adds the source, “Shirish had started work on the film and was looking for an actor who would play a cricketer. The film was supposed to go on the floors early next year.”Reema maintains, “I am writing the screenplay of the film, not directing it. Vishal Punjabi is directing Zoya Factor.” Vishal was the visual effects producer for the SRK starrer Paheli which he had also produced. Meanwhile, Shirish says, “I was never supposed to direct Zoya Factor, only Joker.” SRK remained unavailable for comment. What is Zoya Factor?

It is about a girl called Zoya who was born exactly at the moment when India won the World Cup in 1983. Strangely, Zoya proves to be a girl of incredible luck for cricket matches. Whenever she watches a match, India ends up winning.

Katrina Kaif bothered by constant media glare

She may have been Google’s most searched-for Indian celebrity and one of Bollywood’s top actors, but Katrina Kaif said the constant media glare on her personal life still rankled her.The 25-year-old actor said she hated constantly being written about but has given up trying to fight it.

“What bothers me the most is that the media doesn’t even bother to listen to my side of the story. I have tried to put across my point several times, but it falls on deaf years,” Kaif told Reuters.Kaif is no stranger to link-ups with some of Bollywood’s leading men.

She has recently been linked with actor Ranbir Kapoor, with whom she starred in ‘Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani’, which released in theatres last week.“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t bothered by all this talk, but I have realised that there isn’t much I can do about it. I wouldn’t like being written about so much,” Kaif said.

Kaif is Bollywood’s most unlikely success story. From being an outsider who spoke with a strong British accent and an imperfect Hindi diction, Kaif has risen to being one of the most sought after actresses in the industry.“I know what people say about me, but again, I choose to ignore. They are all entitled to their opinion,” she said.

Kaif will now be seen in Priyadarshan’s ‘De Dana Dan’, a comedy which also stars Akshay Kumar and will be her third release this year.

Katrina is a modern day marvel: Amitabh Bachchan

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who caught up with actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif on the sets of reality show Bigg Boss 3 recently, is all praises for the latter and says she is a “modern day marvel”.”Katrina is a modern day marvel. From a non-Hindi speaking young shy and uncertain lady of Boom, she has grown and grown to become one of the most desired actresses in our fraternity,” Amitabh posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com.

While Amitabh hosts the reality show, Ranbir and Katrina had appeared to promote their film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, which released on Friday.”They (Ranbir and Katrina) were charming and involved and sweet. Ranbir as you all know is related to me. His cousin – Rishi Kapoor’s elder sister’s son is married to Shweta, my daughter.

“I wished them happiness and success,” he said.In the meanwhile, Amitabh is himself busy charting the marketing plans of his forthcoming movie Paa, being touted as his best work so far. He plays a 13-year-old suffering from progeria, a rare disease, which causes premature ageing.

Guys never noticed me in school: Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif is one of the most searched actresses on the internet, according to a survey, but she says back at school, she "went unnoticed". Kat says her image during her school days was rather different from now.

"I never had a boyfriend, though I did have crushes on my senior guys. But they never noticed me," she says."You know, if a guy I liked approached me in the corridors, my heart would beat so fast I used to think it would explode. But then, what often happened was that I realised the guy was not coming to talk to me but just passing me by without a second glance. They didn't even notice me," Katrina adds.

Things surely have changed for the actress, often touted as one of the most desirable women in the Hindi film industry. And she has also come far from her dithering schoolgirl days. Now, she can eloquently speak about love and relationships.

"When you have your first relationship, you feel it is all rosy and start expecting the moon. You tend to go home crying if you were not given enough attention. But then, you get bored of doing that all the time and grow in the relationship," she says.

Looks like Katrina has clear ideas about what to expect in a relationship. And that perhaps is the reason why she has been able to handle her relationship with Salman Khan with such ease.In fact, she clearly seems to be the one who has handled the relationship the best, when compared to Sallu's other girlfriends.

But these days, Katrina is not interested in talking about her relationship with Sallu much, for she has been keeping busy promoting her forthcoming release Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and her sparkling chemistry with Ranbir Kapoor.

I am not partial says Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif is not amused by rumours that she is favouring one film over another. She has two releases – Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and De Dana Dan coming up in November but she is promoting Ajab Prem… more than DDD. She has dismissed this claim stating that it is because Ajab Prem… is releasing in the first week of November while DDD is releasing in the last week.

The rumours came up after she has been doing continuous interviews in Mumbai and Kolkata and will be going to Delhi for promotional events of Ajab Prem… In fact, she will also walk the ramp with Ranbir at Delhi’s Fashion Week to promote the film.

She is supposedly promoting it more because she is the one and only heroine in Ajab Prem…while her role in DDD is tiny and she has to share screen space with other heroines like Neha Dhupia and Sameera Reddy. She has, however, rubbished these reports and stated that she did DDD for Akshay as he stood by her in her early days in the industry.

I was scared walking the ramp with Katrina: Ranbir

Bollywood youth icon Ranbir Kapoor turns showstopper along with model-turned actress Katrina Kaif at the Rohit Bahl show of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week here but says he was nervous while sashaying the ramp with her.

"I was pretty nervous to face the stage with a veteran model like Katrina. The idea of walking the ramp with her made me go blank every time I thought of it. It was she who led me beautifully to the stage making me feel comfortable with her," says Ranbir, who was here with Katrina to promote their film Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani set for release on November 6.

Donned in Rohit Bahl's exotic collection Ranbir emerged in cream colour sherwani-style coat with pyjamas and Katrina had an embellished similar colour tunic to team up with him. With models such as Muzzamil Ibrahim, Carol Gracias, Jessy Randhawa, Nayanika Chaterjee and Lisa Hayden, Bahl's says his show at the grand finale of the fashion week was based on 'Exotic India' signifying the country's inherent luxury.

"My collection signifies the golden bird and the golden peacock which India was known before the British era. The collection is called 'Yasas', a name which the nation was once known by for its elegance and grandeur," Bahl says.

Bahl says Bollywood stars add an 'x-factor' to fashion shows besides the models on the ramp.
Appreciating Bahl's work, Katrina says, "Rohit has always been innovative, passionate and fearless about his designs and creations which make him the cherry of the cake. His designs have always left the audience applauding."

On Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani, she says love is ajab rather than gajab. "Love is more Ajab than Gajab. To the outsiders, it may seem ordinary but for the two in love, it's gajab or rather strange.

Aamir and Katrina to portray Guru Dutt and Waheeda Rehman

Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist, Aamir Khan and lissome actress Katrina Kaif are all set to portray the role of legendary Guru Dutt and yesteryear’s beauty Waheeda Rehman, in a biopic based on the life of the former, to be recreated by director Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra.

http://spicezee.zeenews.com/upload/2009/7/12/aamir-kat-150.jpg

News has it that the movie, which will be canned in October, is based on the life and times of Guru Dutt – the most celebrated actor, producer and director in the history of Indian cinema.

It is believed that Aamir Khan has closely studied the looks of Guru Dutt and has donned a similar hairdo and dressing style, while Katrina has undergone a complete makeover in order to look as elegant and graceful as Waheeda Rehman.

In fact, a glamour magazine recently came out with the first look of the same with Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif recreating the famous pose of Guru Dutt – Waheeda Rehman from their celebrated movie ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool.’ Though ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’ bombed at the Box Office commercially, yet it definitely left a long lasting impression on the audiences.

Well, let’s see whether Aamir and Katrina are able to pull off the role of their lifetimes, by playing the legends from the golden era of Indian cinema!

Katrina Kaif continues to be 'Sexiest woman Alive'

It seems that none can match Katrina Kaif when it comes to sex appeal. For the second consecutive year, the angelic beauty is rumoured to have been voted the ‘sexiest woman alive’.

http://www.apunkachoice.com/scoop/bollywood/img/20090509-2.gif

If the latest buzz doing rounds in tinsel town is to be believed, the gorgeous head-turner has won a poll by FHM (India) magazine to emerge as the ‘sexiest woman alive’. The only competition she faced was from Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor .

Katrina, who last year played down her elevation to the pedestal of an oomphmati, has told a Mumbai tabloid that it would be lovely to win the poll again, though she said she hasn’t yet been officially informed about the poll results.

Katrina Kaif is India's 5th Brand Ambassadors

It is a veritable royal challenge when you are Katrina Kaif. Mobbed by jostling photographers, this winsome brand ambassador for the Royal Challengers Bangalore was in the city even as her cricket team battled the Mumbai Indians in the DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) 2009 on Sunday. The team lost, as it later turned out.

http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t160/indianmakeupdiva/breakdowns/katrina-kaif.jpg

The promotional event was part of the nationwide campaign called “Meet and Greet Katrina Kaif,” aimed at keeping the interest in IPL alive among cricket lovers.

Speaking at the event, the model-turned-actor said she was disappointed that she could not cheer for the team live in South Africa. “But the silver lining is that I am cheering for my team with fans! It feels better cheering for them from home, as not everyone can afford to travel to all the venues to watch their team play.” She added that this campaign across the country had provided her an opportunity to interact with fans and share their undeterred faith in the team.

Coming to the city straight after shooting for her latest film with Akshay Kumar — De Dhana Dhan — in Singapore, Ms. Kaif said that despite the busy schedule, she had not missed a single match of the IPL. “I will continue to cheer for the Royal Challengers and believe we have a chance to win the finals. My favourite cricketer is Rahul Dravid, who I believe is a true gentleman.” The Bollywood actor also gave away personalised jerseys and goodies to 10 fans who won a contest and cheered for their favourite team with her. Vijay K. Rekhi, president and managing director, United Spirits Limited, part of the UB Group, said: “We have an immense fan base for the Royal Challengers in Bangalore and felt this would be the right forum for Ms. Kaif to interact and build on the fans’ enthusiasm.” He added that since she was such a popular celebrity, this exercise would help garner further impetus for the team.

Katrina demands 7 costume changes for a song

Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.' Recently, Katrina Kaif made sure she got her way and did the latter. Katrina put her foot down and said that she needed seven changes of clothes for a music video in Yash Raj Films' New York. The incident in question happened at Yash Raj Studios, Andheri.

http://bollywoodjunction.co.in/bollywood-photos/albums/soha/katrina-kaif-1.jpg

Initially, Aditya Chopra and choreographer Ahmed Khan had decided on three costume changes for Katrina. But keeping in mind her glamorous image, Katrina asked for four more.

When Ahmed reached the sets, Katrina told him that three changes wouldn’t be sufficient. A surprised Ahmed did not agree with Katrina’s demand. Moreover, he knew that he would have to inform Aditya Chopra before giving in to Katrina’s wish. However, when Katrina politely told Ahmed that she would have it no other way he had no choice but to call Aditya who was busy in his office upstairs.

Aditya told Ahmed that he was okay with seven changes if the choreographer had no problem. Thereafter, Ahmed told Katrina that she could have what she wanted.

Once the green signal was given by Aditya, four additional costumes were arranged much to Katrina’s delight.

Ahmed confirmed and said, “Yes, Katrina wanted seven changes in the music video. I wasn’t too excited with the idea initially, but when I saw the final result, I think she was right. The music video has worked out brilliantly.”

“However, I made it clear to Katrina that seven costume changes should not eat into the time of the shoot, and it didn’t,” he added.

Akki and Katrina's Royal Experience

Ratan Jain and his unit have taken over an entire seven-star hotel at Singapore.Sources from Singapore say that the unit of De Dana Dan - comprising a cast of 24 lead actors - including Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Suniel Shetty, Chunky Panday, Archana Puran Singh, Paresh Rawal, Sameera Reddy and many more Priyadarshan faithfuls; are all staying in the same hotel. “For a month this unit has booked the entire hotel, almost making it impossible for outsiders to stay here,” says a local. So the hotel is virtually like an island unto itself with the highest level of security.

http://bollywoodjunction.co.in/bollywood-news-events/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/katrina-akshay.jpg

What’s more Akshay and Katrina who are there for a shorter duration than the rest of the cast and crew are occupying the most expensive suites in the hotel. “These suites are fit for royalty,” adds the source. Well, recession or not, at least actors in Bollywood are still living it up!

Katrina Kaif Pips Sonam Kapoor to the Post

Katrina Kaif may have been often crticised for her thick British accent, but it seems to have worked in her favour finally. Kaif has bagged a role in Dibakar Banerjee next film, which Sonam Kapoor had her eyes on.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij80BUCfVUG4ChMmBja6NTuq7waNgLWvglD0ISBSP4zZrU73Zc4eAMtXt0D0uMNZ9Dppi-KhXC2P4RmvYcgQg8k9u0HRLDLF7QHWcqAb24r12sdSm3ErpG69hr-aLfOu6WncZUvA9h0Xc/s400/Katrina+Kaif_247.jpg

Sonam was extremely keen to work with the Oye Lucky Lucky Oye director and even though she had a reliable line of communication with Dibakar through his favourite leading man Abhay Deol (also the leading man in Sonam's home production Ayesha), she lost the role to Kat.

Apparently, the role in the film, which stars Imran Khan and Abhay Deol, was written with Katrina in mind.
Says a source, "Anil Kapoor was very keen to have his daughter work with Dibakar.

He even called the director home and showed him a show reel prepared for an international project.

The director is also keen to work with Sonam but he sees her as the archetypal Indian beauty. That's not what Dibakar's new Imran-Abhay romance requires."

Dibakar's heroine must be partly firangi, so Katrina with her firangi accent is perfect for the part.

For the film, Katrina would have to mirror her real-life personality. She is of mixed parentage, as is the character she portrays in Dibakar's untitled film.

Says the source, "Katrina approached Dibakar and expressed her desire to work with him.

As luck would have it Katrina is just the leading lady Dibakar was looking for. He really couldn't think of anyone else for the part."

Better luck next time, Sonam.

Salman-Kat fight over Asin-Ranbir

Industry sources reveal that it's all over between Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. And also that the couple has decided to stay friends. Says a source in B-Town, "Salman and Katrina have been having problems for over a month. Though their relationship has hit rough spots before, and they've taken a break from each other, it remains to be seen if this time the split is final.

http://entertainment.oneindia.in/img/2009/04/17-sallu-kat-asin-ranbir-17040.jpg

The couple has been having arguments for some time now but things came to a head about 20 days ago. The couple had a major fight over various issues the main one being Katrina's growing proximity to her Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani (APKGK) co-star Ranbir Kapoor."

A friend close to the actor says, "Initially, Salman didn't pay heed to the Kat-Ranbir rumours. Especially as the actress told him that the Kapoor boy had a crush on her and she wasn't interested in him. But stories carried back by the unit of (APKGK) from Ooty, confirmed his suspicions.

When Salman confronted his girlfriend, she turned around and told him that she didn't question him about his link-up with Asin, so had no business asking her about her friendship with her co-stars." Sources also reveal that Salman (43) has been wanting to get married and have kids, while Katrina (24) feels she's too young to be tied down. "The couple has had many arguments on this subject."

It's a cooling off period between the couple now. The source says, "A few days ago, SalKat had a major fight, though no one knows what the fight was about this time. And they decided to call it quits for some time. Katrina, who has been staying in Salman's Bandra apartment, shifted out to her own one (bought by Salman) on Waterfield Road. Two days ago Salman told his friends that he and Katrina were 'just friends'.

Adds a friend of the actress, "Katrina has been in a low mood for the last couple of days and flew off to Singapore on Wednesday night to shoot for De Dhana Dhan with Akshay Kumar. More than a year ago they had gone through a similar situation, fought and almost broken up but got back together again. This time, their patch-up looks difficult." Katrina Kaif remained unavailable for comment. Sallu denied that anything of the sort took place.

Sallu-Kat couple in real troble

Says a source in B-Town, "Salman and Katrina have been having problems for over a month. Though their relationship has hit rough spots before, and they've taken a break from each other, it remains to be seen if this time the split is final.

Ash breaks her silence on Katrina's Barbie Claims

After the talks that Aishwarya Bachchan would be immortalized as a Barbie doll, there was speculation that Genelia D’Souza was considered too because of her doll like and younger face. Then suddenly it came out that Katrina Kaif would be the Barbie and she claimed that Ash was not in the running at all.

http://iworld4you.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/aishwarya_rai_.jpg

Katrina also went around telling whoever cared to listen that she’s the first Indian to get that privilege. Well, many ridiculed that claim of hers as she holds a British passport. And she might claim that she has nothing against Aishwarya and that she respects her and all that, but smart cookie Aishwarya isn't one to stay quiet without clarifying things.

Aishwarya hit back by saying that she refused the Barbie doll deal due to her professional commitments. In fact her representatives were in negotiations with Barbie's manufacturer Mattel, who planned to give the iconic doll a Bollywood face. But the deal did not take off. In fact since 1994 when Aishwarya won the Miss World title, the company has made numerous attempts to make a celebrity doll modelled on the Indian beauty.

However, she could never make time for their endeavour, due to her professional commitments. Again on the doll's 50th anniversary, Aishwarya was approached to appear decked up as a celebrity Barbie but she had to opt out of that too due to her prior commitments with filmmakers whose shooting schedules clashed with the event.

A statement issued by Aishwarya's spokesperson said, "Mattel was keen to have the actress walk the ramp on Lakme Fashion Week 'Barbie dolled up' in a winning design as Single Likeness Barbie, which would be unveiled and auctioned for a charity of her choice."

God alone knows what the whole truth is. Hopefully we’ll get a glimpse of the whole truth one fine day Till then, Katrina can shut up and enjoy it all.

Beautiful Katrina Kaif's Glamorous Photosoot

I am the face of Barbie, not Ash: Katrina Kaif

It's official: Katrina Kaif is the new Barbie girl. Rubbishing the buzz that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was to be the new face of the Barbie doll, the new super-confident Katrina Kaif quips, "As far as I know, Aishwarya was never under consideration. It was me. So I don't know where these stories came from."

http://mid-day.com/imagedata/2009/mar/barbie.jpg

Katrina's face will now adorn those of Barbie dolls worldwide. And the actress is for once openly flattered.
"I'd call it a fun honour.

KAT CALL: Katrina Kaif in a pink dress like the one designed for the Katrina Barbie at the Fashion Week yesterday.
To have your face on dolls that you've played with from childhood is quite flattering. We've been in negotiations for nearly six months. It finally came together for the 50th year celebration of Barbie," she reveals.

Yesterday, at the Fashion Week, Katrina walked the ramp in a small pink dress like the one designed for the Katrina Barbie. Says Katrina, "Contrary to what people believe, my Barbie is not an Indian counterpart of the international brand.

It's an honour because I'm the first Indian to be the face of Barbie. I think in many ways it's an endorsement of how kids connect with me.

You can't be the face of an international doll unless kids like you. The thought that kids like me enough to make me a part of their doll collection is very gratifying."

With the Barbie image coming to the surface again, Katrina is somewhat worried about the bubbly-girl image that she'd like to change.

"So much for my attempts to move to a more mature level as an actor," laughs the actress. "I guess Prakash Jha's Rajneeti will take care of that. But I'm very happy being the clean healthy Barbie."

The doll's look and dress were planned in collaboration with Kat. "It is quite something, if you think about it. But I'd rather not. I don't want my head to get swollen.

For me it's enough that I was chosen because I reflect a certain bubbly wholesome personality, quite contrary to the sexy tag that I get in net polls and which I'm not very comfortable with," she says. The Katrina Barbie will be launched in September.

The other Barbies

Katrina Kaif will become the first Indian and join the likes of Beyonce Knowles, Elizabeth Taylor and Diana Ross, who have all had their own limited edition celebrity Barbies
