Gorgeous Sridevi to launch her cute daughter Jhanavi

Yesteryear’s diva Sridevi is planning to revive her South connections to launch her daughter Jhanavi in movies here. The actress who made it big first in the South and was paid more than the heroes in the 80s and 90s, is planning to launch her daughter in a couple of years. Though there were rumours that she was to launch Jhanavi with Tamil director Sashi of Nadodigal fame, the project didn’t materialise. Jhanavi is believed to be training as an actress.

Sridevi is believed to have put in a word with directors in the Telugu film industry to contact her if they find a suitable script to launch her daughter as heroine. The usually aloof Sridevi made it a point to fly down to Hyderabad all the way from Mumbai for the launch of RGV’s Telugu movie. The actress was seen bonding big time with her Tollywood directors and filmmakers. She spoke in Telugu and expressed a wish to revisit the city for the success meet of the movie later.

A beautiful actress's daughter has to become an actress with bang of openings.. That is the simple rule in India and keeping in tune with this trend, the eternal beauty Sridevi is grooming her elder daughter Jahnavi to become the next big heroine. The 13 year old Jahnavi would make her debut as a heroine at 16, exactly the same age at which Sridevi made her debut as a heroine. Apparently Jhanvi is on a strict diet to shed baby fat; this means no chocolates and ice creams. The young lady is also taking lessons in Classical dance, horse riding and swimming; skills that would be useful in a filmy career. Sridevi's able guidance is coming in handy to groom the young Jahnavi to be the next superstar of India!

Sources in film nagar say if Nagarjuna’s second son Akhil is launched into movies, the heroine will be Sridevi’s daughter Jhanavi.

Rare collection of NTR-Photos -Biography

A great actor, director, screenplay writer, producer, A Memorable Honourable Ex- Cheif minister of Andhra Pradesh, He is the heart beat and soul of Andhra people. - NANDAMOORI TARAKA RAMARAO..

Reached to every heart of telugu speaking people
Created his own NEW brand in POLITICS,
Created a Great Impression on Telugu and Telugu people.
Moral to Everyone for both a Politician and an actor.
Guide to Great screenplay writing for Mythological movies, Fantasy and much more.
Reached a great highest peak in ACTING
NTR contributions towards telugu film industry can never ever be forgotten.

The standards set by NTR for the mythological roles can never be reached. Fellow actor ANR once said, as long as people believe in gods Rama or Krishna they can never forget NTR.

He was born on May 28, 1923 in Krishna district. Neither he nor his parents ever imagined that he would one day become a great actor.

In spite of being a farmers family NTR’s parents respected education. NTR’s basic education was finished at his native place Nimmakuru. His father carried him on his shoulders to a school that is far away from their house. When his uncle Ramaiah adopted NTR, he was taken to Vijayawada concerning his further education. NTR had joined in sixth class at Gandhi Municipal School at Vijayawada. When his parents met with a bad patch frantically, NTR used to help them by tying the milk cans on both sides of his cycle and distributing them to the hotels and dwellers of farer places from their house. It was his first taste of the dignity of labour. He had undertaken so many things to earn the daily bread for their family. He ran a small provision store and worked as a clerk. In spite of all these things he remained a good student in his school and later in college. While he was studying Intermediate at S.R.R. College at Visakha Patnam, Viswanatha Satyanarayana who was the head of the Telugu dept there asked NTR to play a female role where NTR reluctantly agreed to play the role but having his moustache! That incidence fetched him the nickname meesaala naagamma.

Marriage It was while NTR was doing his Intermediate, that he got married to his maternal uncle’s daughter Basavatharakam in May 1942. Because of the distraction caused by marriage, he failed in Intermediate twice. However, he didn’t give it up and proved his will power by succeeding in the examination later, and had joined in B.A. at Andhra Christian College, Guntur. There was always an instinct in him towards acting. It was that instinct in him which drove him towards the stage. The amateur National Arts Theatre group (NAT) at Andhra Christian College, Guntur in 1946, and started performing and directing many stage plays like ‘Chesina Paapam’ along with Kongara Jaggiah, Mukkamala and K.V.S. Sarma. They raised money for the welfare of poor people, and for draught and famine relief funds during early 50’s. In addition NTR was a good illustrator. He had even won a prize in painting competition held at state level. When Subhash Chandra Bose visited Vijayawada, NTR gifted a portrayal of Bose to him.

Taraka Rama Rao completed his graduation in the year 1947. He later passed in the Madras Service Commission Exam – out of 1,100 members only seven were selected and Rama Rao was one among them. Thus he settled down in a sub registrar’s job at Mangalagiri in 1947. Nevertheless, it became a brief period as he worked only for three weeks and refrained from the job since he got a prospect in films.

NTR's first movie was MANA DESAM, released in 1949. The first movie had him in a very small role. His first movie as a hero was PALLETOORI PILLA and was a super hit. His subsequent movies SHAVUKARU, PAATHAALABHAIRAVI, MALLESWARI and CHANDRAHAARAM established him as the premier hero in the telugu film industry. NTR has acted in 254 movies including 15 movies in one year (1964). He acted in 42 mythological movies. Eventhough he first played in a Krishna role in movie SONTHA VOORU, his Krishna role in MAAYAA BAZAAR earned him all the glory.

Politics:
He made his way into politics in 1982 by setting up his own regional party, ‘Telugu Desam Party’ (TDP) aspiring to shield the pride of the Telugu People all over the world. He had beaten Congress-I in the first elections and became the non Congress Chief Minister for the first time in India. No other politician entered into politics within nine months of their entry into politics. He had brought in the 'slab system' in film field in 1984. The system facilitated the producers as well as the distributors largely. He was the chief minister of the state till 1989 when his party was discomfited. He was elected to be the Chairman of ‘National Front Party’.
As the Time grabs everybody to its cold lap, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, a great legend died in 1996 at the age of 73 leaving no other person to replace his place. He is not among us physically he remains unaltered in the hearts of millions of people of Andhra Pradesh.

Amitabh Bachchan-An angry young man of INDIA

A Great angry young man of INDIA...  though he is running 70's still he is young at heart and actions.. The great star of bollywood, none other than....

Amitabh Bachchan Amitabh Bachchan or BIG B, needs no introduction in India or even abroad. The man seems to hold in him a charisma that remains unrivalled. An entrepreneur, politician, game show host, a singer, voiceover artist, and an actor - the roles he played are immortalized and idolized. A huge fan base that reveres him as though he is a demi-god and a multitude of awards and recognition gravitates to him endlessly, year after year after year. But his ride to stardom was anything but smooth.

The first indian actor has been placed as a Wax idol, in Madamme TUSSADS muesuem in LONDON...
Many times he has not been chosen by the directors and producers of the film, moreover they commented, that his height doesn't suits well in movies..
He never depressed...

The Big Bang!
Born under the Libran sun sign, Amitabh Bachchan celebrates his birthday on 11 October. He was born in 1942 in Allahabad, as Amitabh Harivansh Srivastav to Dr.Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. His father was a well known poet. Bachchan was his pen name. When Amitabh entered the film industry he replaced Srivastav with Bachchan. He was initially christened Inquilab but this was later changed to Amitabh that means ‘limitless lustre’, which is so apt. Ajitabh is his younger brother.

Bachchan studied in Allahabad at Jnana Pramodhini and Boys High School. He also put in a few years at Sherwood College in Nainital and Kirori Mal College. He holds a double degree in M.A.

He worked as a freight broker with Bird & Co, a shipping firm based in Kolkata which he quit to pursue acting, which paid off.

He married his co-star Jaya Bhaduri of the Guddi fame on 3 June 1973 and they have two children, Shweta and Abhishek. The latter is also an actor, married to Aishwarya Rai.

Making it Big. And how!
Bachchan’s unconventional looks – dark, lean, and standing tall at 6’2” - worked against him when it came to acting roles. But his deep voice, a trademark, held him in good stead with offers to work on narration and background commentary.

1969 to 1979
In 1969, Bachchan made his debut with Saat Hindustani, which won him the National Film Award for Best Newcomer. After this came movies like Reshma Aur Shera, Parwana, and Anand in 1971. He made a huge impact with his performance in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Anand alongside Rajesh Khanna as a despondent doctor, winning the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. In 1972, he appeared in movies like Sanjog, Bansi Birju, Ek Nazar, and also narrated Bawarchi.

His identity as the ‘angry young man’ took off in 1973 when he starred in movies like Zanjeer, Abhimaan, and Namak Haraam. Vijay went on to become a regular onscreen name. In Zanjeer, he played an honest cop implicated by false charges and thirsting for revenge. In Abhimaan, he was a struggling singer while his wife, played by Jaya Bhaduri, makes it big firing up his insecurities. He came together with Rajesh Khanna again in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Namak Haraam, which won him the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.

In 1974 he made brief appearances in Kunwara Baap and Dost. Roti Kapda Aur Makhaan raked in a lot of moolah. He played the lead in Majboor, a dying man who gets a new lease of life and a prison sentence to get out of. In 1975, his movies like the comedy Chupke Chupke with Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore and Jaya Bacchan, and the romantic drama Mili with Jaya and Ashok Kumar did well. However it was Deewar and Sholay that made a lasting impact on Bollywood. His performance in Deewar was intense while Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay was not only a big earner but is one of BBC’s Top 25 Must See Bollywood Movies.

In the 1976 film Kabhie Kabhie, he plays the role of a lovelorn poet Amit. Amar Akbar Anthony, released in 1977, showed Bachchan as the endearing Anthony Gonsalves, winning him his first Filmfare Best Actor Award. A string of hits marked 1978 with the release of Kasme Vaade, Trishul, Don, and Muqaddar Ka Sikander. It was Don that won him the Filmfare Best Actor Award out of the three movies for which he was nominated. In 1979, he starred in Mr.Natwarlal and also tried his hand for the first time in playback singing in this movie with the song Mere Paas Aao.

1980 to 1990
The early eighties saw the release of Dostana, Shaan, Laawaris (popular for the song Mere Angene Mein, Tumhara Kya Kaam Hai that AB sang), Silsila with Jaya Bhaduri and his rumoured lover Rekha. He played a double role in Satte Pe Satta and Namak Halaal. These movies enjoyed large scale popularity as did Bachchan. This was evident when he met with a fatal injury during the making of his 1982 movie, Coolie. Practically the entire nation prayed for his recovery which came after a year when he completed the movie and it was released with a change in script so that his character Iqbal, who was supposed to die, survives. In 1984, his role as Vicky Kapoor, an alcoholic in Sharaabi was also well-received.

Bollywood started taking a backseat post 1984 due to his illness. This made him look towards politics. It was well known that Bachchan enjoyed a close association with the Gandhi family having grown up with Rajiv Gandhi. He won the Allahabad’s Lok Sabha seat with a high margin of 68%. His stint in politics was marred when he was accused in the Bofors scandal and was later proved innocent. He later deflected to friend Amar Singh’s Samajwadi Party.
He ventured back into Bollywood with Shahenshah in 1988 and Toofan in 1989. Agneepath, released in 1990, won him a National Film Award for Best Actor.

1991 to 1999
Hum in 1991 did well. His much hyped last movie before retirement was Khuda Gawah with Sridevi, in 1992. Bachchan went on to start Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd that was to produce and distribute movies and music. Tere Mere Sapne, which was its first production, was an average performer while its later productions all failed dismally like Mrityudaatha which starred Bachchan. The company collapsed and Bachchan reverted back to acting but without much success in movies like Major Saab, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Sooryavansham. ABCL also released his album Aby Baby that was popular for the number ‘Eer Bir Phatte’.

2000-2008
The year 2000 salvaged his situation and he went on to reclaim his superstar status. In Mohabattein, he starred with King Khan, as the dogmatic Narayan Shankar and won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.

He also hosted Kaun Banega Crorepathi, the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, that is known to be one of the most popular television shows in Indian television history. This was at a time when most movie stars saw television as a step back in their career but Bachchan changed that perception.

In 2001, he won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance for Aks and was nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting Actor for his role as Yashchand Raichand in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Kaante (2002) was the remake of Reservoir Dogs. This was followed by Boom, Baghban, Khakee, Aetbaar, Rudraksh, and Lakshya.

And if anyone thought he was riding on his early success, he removed all doubts of that with his widely acclaimed portrayal of Debraj Sahai in Black (2005) that received international recognition and plenty of awards. The role won him the National Award for Best Actor, Filmfare Best Actor Award, and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance. The same year in the comedy Bunty Aur Babli, he starred with his son Abhishek for the first time and followed it up with Sarkar as Subash Nagre, a ‘godfather’ of sorts.

In 2006, he played Sexy Sam, in another Karan Johar’s mega-starrer, Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna. Ram Gopal Verma’s Nishabdh that was out in 2007 saw him enamoured with his daughter’s friend Jia. Cheeni Kum had him romancing a much younger woman played by Tabu. The Last Lear in which he brought to life the veteran theater actor Harish Mishra was appreciated.

His fans saw him in different avatars in 2008, with Bhoothnath where he was a ghost; the sequel Sarkar Raj, that starred his son Abhishek and bahu Aishwarya Rai; God Tussi Great Ho where he was God himself.

2009
He had a fleeting appearance in Delhi 6 in the first part of 2009. He played Genius the Genie in Aladin. The movie was an average success. He proved why he was a superstar yet again with his performance in Paa. He was seen as Auro, a thirteen year old child afflicted by Progeria which causes him to age rapidly. His son, Abhishek, played his father in this movie.

His might grows
Bachchan will be seen in three movies in 2010. In Teen Patti, he will be seen as a mathematician. Rann is about journalism. Shoebite will see him with Sarika and Dia Mirza. He will also be seen in Shantaram which is currently on hold

Birthday of our Great Musician -Rahman

Today is a very special day for music lovers. It is the birthday of A.R. Rahman, one of the most talented and prolific music composers of Tamil cinema. The Mozart of Madras was born in 1966 as A.S. Dileep Kumar to R.K. Shekhar, a composer, arranger and conductor for Malayalam films.

Even when he was in school, he took up a part-time job as a keyboard player and arranger in private rock bands. The effect and prospect of mixing and presenting various sounds for concerts kindled his curiosity. The vast potential of music lured him and this interest sparked off the beginning of his journey into the world of composing. With eagerness to master the nuances and technicalities of music, he then enrolled with Master Dhanraj Pillai for proper training.

At age 11, he joined music director Ilayaraja’s troupe as a keyboardist. Simultaneously, he also played in several music directors’ troupes and toured the world with great concert performers such as Zakir Hussain, L.Vaidyanathan and Ramesh Naidu. Learning from all these varied and valuable experiences, Rahman graduated from Trinity College of Music, London in Western classical music.

In 1991, he opened his recording studio in Chennai and began composing music for jingles and documentary films. Rahman began composing music for films with Mani Ratnam's Roja (Tamil) in 1992 after assisting Tamil film maestro Ilaiyaraja for nearly a decade. He was awarded the Rajat Kamal award for Best Music Director at the National Film Awards for the film, the first time ever for a new film composer and since then, he never looked back.

The film was also listed in TIME's Top 10 Movie Soundtracks of All Time. Rahman went on to win the National Award three more times, for his scores for Minsaara Kanavu in 1997, Lagaan in 2002 and Kannathil Muthamittal, the most ever by any composer.

The music director is known for his versatility in classical, folk, jazz, reggae, soft rock and other styles in his pieces. Rahman's debut Hindi film was Rangeela. He has also been awarded the Padma Shri for his outstanding contribution to music. His music created a new trend, scaled astonishing heights of appreciation and grew to become a sensation.

Rahman’s speciality lies in his experimentation. His is a well-knit combination of technology and art. The songs he compose illustrate the distinctly rich aspects of music, yet carry many contemporary motifs. He also launched the KM Music Conservatory, to train Indians in world class music. Rahman’s vision is to compose and present world-class orchestras in Chennai.

Beyond and above his musical talent, it is Rahman’s great modesty that warms the hearts of listeners and fans worldwide. For his score of Slumdog Millionaire, Rahman won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score, the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music, and two Oscars for Best Original Music Score and Best Original Song.

Almost every time he receives an award or accolade, we have seen him attributing it to the Almighty. ‘Ella Pughazhum Iraivanukke’ is Rahman’s most popular and most-liked prelude to his public speeches. He did it at Oscars too.

Some of his recent work includes Jodhaa Akbar, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Yuvraaj, Delhi-6 and Ghajini. Rahman scored music for the Mandarin language picture Warriors of Heaven and Earth in 2003 after researching and utilizing Chinese and Japanese classical music, and co-scored Shekhar Kapoor's Elizabeth: The Golden Age in 2007. He recently composed music for Couples Retreat, an American comedy by Universal Pictures.

Known for keeping his personal life away from the media glare, Rahman is married to Saira and has three children: Khatija, Rahima and Amin.

Rahman will also score music for more Hollywood films, including Danny Boyle’s tentatively titled 127 Hours and Ashok Amritraj’s Street Dancing. The master composer’s next big Bollywood venture is with his Roja director Mani Ratnam in Raavan and Shankar's Endhiran.

Vidya Balan Birthday - Adress of beauty and glamour

It's actress Vidya Balan, who has acted in popular films like Parineeta and Lage Raho Munna Bhai, celebrates her 33rd birthday. Hailed as the next big thing, among the current lot of Bollywood actresses, she was born in Palakkad, on the border of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, in 1978.

Unlike her other competitors, she banks on her beauty, grace and talent rather than on exposure. Vidya first started out by modeling in the Surf Excel ad in the year 1998. Success of the ad saw her doing a lot of commercials. Her mentor Pradeep Sarkar directed most of them. She did some 25 TV advertisements.

She did three music videos as well, with Pankaj Udhas, Euphoria and Shubha Mudgal, again directed by Pradeep Sarkar. Balan made her film debut in the year 2003 with the Bengali film Bhalo Theko for which she won the 'best actress' Anand Lok Puraskar in Kolkata. She also acted in two television serials including the superhit Hum Panch and Hanste Khelte.

Balan made her Hindi film debut with Pradeep Sarkar's highly acclaimed Parineeta playing the graceful Lolita. It was a big challenge for even a seasoned actor to capture the grace and subtle nuances of the character, Lolita. But she made it look easy, drawing applause from all quarters. She hasn't looked back ever since.

Lage Raho Munna Bhai, with Sanjay Dutt followed. The film became a phenomenal success and even went to the Oscars. Guru was her next release, directed by acclaimed director Mani Ratnam. The film was a great success too. Although she had only a small role, it was appreciated.

Her next two releases, Salaam-e-Ishq and Eklavya failed to do well, but the latter was selected as India's official entries to the Oscars for the 80th Academy Awards.

Among Balan's last few releases, Heyy Babyy and Bhool Bhulaiyaa have fared very well at the box office, but Rajkumar Santoshi directed Halla Bol flopped despite critical acclaim.

Her film with Shahid Kapur Kismat Konnection was also a success, during which it was rumoured that they were dating. Her current release Paa with Bachchans - Amitabh and Abhishek, in which she portrayed Amitabh's mother, has got her rave reviews.

Her forthcoming films are - Vishal Bhardwaj's Ishqiya, in which she is paired with Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Chenab Gandhi.

• His father was considering naming him “Inquilab” (which means “revolution”) before fixing on Amitabh, which means “brilliance unlimited.”

• Today he stands at 74 inches or 1.88 m, the tallest-ever top star in Hindi cinema.

• Educated at Sherwood College, Nainital, and Kirori Mal College, Delhi University (he is a double Master of Arts), he worked in Kolkata for the shipping firm Shaw & Wallace as an executive and later worked as a freight broker for Bird and Co. It was then that he bought a second-hand Fiat as his first car.

• His baritone voice saw two rejections from the All India Radio. Ameen Sayani, radio ace, turned him down too in Mumbai and is now glad he did so, because had he given him a break, movies might never have happened and Sayani’s career (as Sayani now quips) could have been threatened!

• Sunil Dutt signed him for a mute’s role in “Reshma Aur Shera” because of a letter of introduction from Indira Gandhi, then prime minister, to her friend Nargis — Amitabh was Rajiv Gandhi’s friend.

• He was the first star from Asia to be immortalized in Madame Tussaud’s in London, and was named Actor of the Millennium in a BBC News Poll ahead of Charlie Chaplin, Sir Lawrence Olivier and Marlon Brando.

• Bachchan was paid Rs. 1,000 for his debut film, K.A. Abbas’s “Saat Hindustani,” on the sets of which he struck a lifelong friendship with Tinnu Anand.

• In Mumbai, Bachchan frequented a fuel station in his struggling phase. On the day “Anand” was released, he had filled up in the morning. The same evening when he returned for more, everyone recognized him!

• Bachchan married Jaya Bhaduri in 1973 after a long courtship. Eyewitnesses and supporters of their romance included actress Nadira, who worked with them in their first film together, “Ek Nazar” (1972), and common mentor Hrishikesh Mukherjee.

• Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri came together in very unusual ways. Jaya was “Guddi” (1971) in which a sequence from Bachchan’s “Parwana” was shown and he played himself. Jaya was credited with the story idea of his “Shahenshah” (1988). Bachchan was considered as hero for “Guddi” but Hrishikesh Mukherjee decided to cast him in “Anand” instead.

• “Saat Hindustani” is his only black-and-white film.

• Bachchan has acted in two offbeat Hindi films, “Saat Hindustani” (1969) and “Main Azaad Hoon” (1989), and both films have just one song in different parts with a single playback singer. Coincidentally, both songs were written by Kaifi Azmi, and the latter film had Bachchan as the singer.

• Earlier to his full-fledged singing debut in “Mr. Natwarlal,” he spoke a few lines in “Humka aisa waisa na samjho” sung by Mukesh in Kalyanji-Anandji’s “Adalat” and “My name is Anthony Gonsalves” sung by Kishore Kumar in Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s “Amar Akbar Anthony” (both 1977). He sang two more songs with Kishore (“Sharaabi” and “Kaun Jeeta Kaun Haara”), and recorded a song each with Rafi (“Naseeb”) and Lata (“Silsila”) when “live” recordings were the norm.

• He is the only top actor, who is not a singing star, to have sung in over 20 films.

• The face of the Indian comic book character Supremo is based on him.

• Despite his near-fatal accident and subsequent myasthenia gravis (a muscular disorder), Bachchan jumped himself from a height of 30 feet for a sequence in home production “Aks.”

• He is the only actor to have had a minimum one jubilee a year from 1971 (“Anand”) to 1988 (“Shahenshah”). He had no release in 1987, except for a cameo in the success “Jalwa”!

• He acted in 19 Golden Jubilees between 1973 and 1984, with four in 1978 and at least one every year. He had two more Golden Jubilees in the millennium.

• He has played double roles oftener than anyone else, in “Bandhe Hath” (1972), “Adalat” (1977), “Don” and “Kasme Vaade” (1978), “The Great Gambler” (1979), “Bemisaal”,”Desh Premee” and “Satte Pe Satta” (1982), “Aakhree Raasta” (1986), “Toofan” (1989), “Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan” (1998) and “Lal Baadshah” (1999) and “Sooryavansham” (1999). In “Mahaan” (1983) he had a triple role.

• Bachchan was first choice for Shashi Kapoor’s “Utsav” (a role that Shashi himself did) and “King Uncle” (Jackie Shroff); and Salim-Javed had originally written “Mr. India” with Bachchan in mind.

• He dubbed for 23 scenes in 5 hours, a record, for “Shootout At Lokhandwala.”

• In “Slumdog Millionaire,” Amitabh Bachchan is the answer to Jamal’s first question in the Indian version of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?,” “Who was the star in the 1973 hit film ‘Zanjeer’?” The real-life version of the quiz show, “Kaun Banega Crorepati,” had Bachchan as quizmaster in the first two seasons and was his comeback and Star Plus’ channel driver.

• Amitabh-Jaya is the only real-life couple to have starred on-screen for 30 years from “Ek Nazar” to “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…”(2001), a film released 28 years after their marriage.

• Amitabh now plays the son (!) of Abhishek Bachchan in “Paa.”

• Amitabh and son Abhishek Bachchan have played unrelated characters in “Bunty Aur Babli,” “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom” and “Shootout…” — in the last, they never shared a frame — and father and son in “Sarkar,” “Sarkar Raj,” “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.”

• They also starred in “Ek Ajnabee” in which Abhishek made a cameo. Bachchan played Abhishek’s grandfather in “Delhi-6.” In both they never shared frames.

• He is the only actor who has played God (“God Tussi Great Ho”), ghost (“Bhoothnath,” “Delhi-6”) and genie (“Aladin”).

• He has yet to work with Aamir Khan, though he was narrator in his production “Lagaan.” He was also the voice of God in Salman Khan’s home production “Hello Brother.”

• He is the only actor to have starred in a kind of remake of his own film as hero, “Sholay,” in a different role: he was the villain in “Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag.” He starred in two different films called “Deewaar,” in 1975 and 2004.

• A.R. Rahman has scored music for three films in which he was involved, but has never composed a song for him.

Jatin-Lalit’s song in “Aankhen” was scrapped.

• In non-film albums, Bachchan sang the entire “Aby Baby” and was a part of Adnan Sami’s album “Tera Chehra” (the track “Kabhi nahin” with Adnan).

• His first English film “Boom” (2003) saw him get a vicious feedback from his fans for his lecherous role. The same was repeated with “Nishabd.”

• He also starred in home productions of Sunil Dutt, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Shah Rukh Khan.

• He worked in Mehmood’s “Bombay To Goa” and essayed cameos in his “Garam Masala” (1972), “Kunwara Baap” and “Ginny Aur Johnny.” Mehmood was his mentor too.

• He was to do films that never took off — “Lambuji Thinguji” and “Jaahil” respectively — with Amjad Khan and Kader Khan as directors.

• Kalyanji-Anandji helped him in his struggling days and even introduced him to Prakash Mehra.

• This reporter watched him enact “Mere angne mein” on stage in 1974, seven years before it was used in “Laawaris.”

• The above song, “Rang barse” from “Silsila” and some lyrics from “Alaap” were penned by his father, Dr. Harvanshrai Bachchan.

• Among his loyal filmmakers, only Hrishikesh Mukherjee cast him in a common man’s role frequently (doctor, professor etc.) and never did an action movie.

• Starting with “Bhuvn Shome” (1969) even before he turned actor, “Bawarchi” (1972) and “Shatranj Ke Khiladi” (1976), Bachchan has been narrator in over a dozen films, including an international project, “La marche de l'empereur” (2005), a documentary on penguins.

• Apart from writing his first full song as singer, “Mere paas aao mere doston ek kissa suno” (“Mr. Natwarlal”), Anand Bakshi wrote the first two songs lip-synched by him (“Pyar Ki Kahani”) and the first ABCL film, “Tere Mere Sapne.”

• Sensing his potential as an actor, Shashi Kapoor deleted his scene as a junior artist playing a mourner from the English film “Bombay Talkie.” They co-starred in a dozen films later, with Bachchan doing “Ajooba,” produced and directed by Shashi Kapoor. • Shashi had been the first choice for “Anand,” Bachchan’s first hit, but after his secretary acted pricey, the role went to Rajesh Khanna!
